This Is Us is the name of the seventh studio album from American Grammy-nominated international pop boy band Backstreet Boys. As becoming a four-piece band (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean), this album will be the second album and will be released on October 5, 2009 in the UK through RCA Records, October 6 in the US through Jive, and later all over the world through Sony Music. They have reunited with previous collaborator and producer Max Martin Ryan Tedder, Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Jim Jonsin, RedOne and T-Pain for the album as well. Backstreet Boys plan on spending the second half of 2009 and all of 2010 on the road. A European tour has already been announced and a full North American headlining tour will be announced shortly. Tour dates can be found on the group’s official website www.backstreetboys.com. [Source] |

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that’s why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild. The Backstreet Boys brought their comeback parade to Spain yesterday, as they hosted a party for their forthcoming new album This Is Us at Madrid’s Melia Fenix Hotel. The quartet’s upcoming record will be released on October 6, with a long tour (which focuses mostly on Europe in the fall) to follow. The two-time Video Music Award winners got assists from Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Pitbull, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin and RedOne, and they just revealed the video for their new single “Straight Through My Heart.” They weren’t the only jet-setters yesterday, as Lady Gaga continues to sweep her way across the European continent (she was in London yesterday, wearing some sort of lime green wetsuit) and Hollywood actress Eva Mendes made her way to the English capital for the GQ magazine “Man of the Year” party. The Backstreet Boys are all grown up—some are even dads—and after 17 years in the music industry they finally know what works for them. Their upcoming album, This Is Us (out Oct. 6), goes back to the foursome’s roots with a mix of R&B ballads and dance songs featuring some of the best producers and musicians out there. I spoke to half–Puerto Rican “boy” Howie Dorough about the band and his own plans to sing in Spanish: Congrats, I hear you’re a father. Do you and the guys talk about babies now? Brian and I do a little bit here and there. He was one of the first to have a child. I go to him for advice. He’s always been good with his son, Bailey, and Kevin [who left the group in 2006] came by for his birthday celebration. His son is almost 3. Any chance for “Backstreet Boys: The Next Generation”? Ha-ha! Who knows what life has in store for him? If that’s the direction they want to take it in, I’m sure we’ll be really supportive. Read full article. |

The Backstreet Boys have literally transformed in front of our eyes. After nearly seventeen years in the music business, their fans have grown with them. Just as some of the guys have gotten married and started families, so have their fans. Now, though, their fans can share their love of Backstreet with their own children. Last week the video for Backstreet’s first single – Straight Through My Heart – off their upcoming album premiered on the US Magazine website. The video had a movie feel to it, and played off of the vampire trend that has swept the world. It shows a woman on the prowl in a club, searching for her latest pray, while the band performs. The unique aspect was that the fact the woman was a vampire wasn’t overplayed. There was only a subtle hint of who she really was, which made one believe that she was simply a woman looking for her latest conquest. The video ends with the band – revealed to be Day Walkers (a group who band together to protect innocent mortals) – destroying the woman. Read full article. |
