Backstreet Boys Talk ‘More Personal’ New Album

Posted by Staff in Dec 05,2012 with No Comments

Once again a quintet, with Kevin Richardson having rejoined Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell, the Backstreet Boys are well into recording their follow-up to 2009’s This Is Us, their first album with all five members since 2005’s Never Gone.

“We’re about 75 percent through,” Dorough tells Rolling Stone of the as-yet untitled album, which will be out in time for the group’s 20th anniversary in 2013. “We’re trying to have a single released hopefully in the spring, and an album summer or third or fourth quarter.”

The group spent three weeks in London earlier this year working with producer Martin Trefere, who has worked with Train and Jason Mraz, among others. They’ve also worked with the Fliptones and reteamed with Dan Muckala, who wrote “Incomplete.” Two other collaborators, Morgan Taylor Reid and the “Prophet” (Mika Guillory), co-wrote the group’s current holiday song, “It’s Christmas Time Again,” with Dorough and Carter. Backstreet Boys Are ‘Halfway There’ to First Indie Album

Posted by Staff in Nov 23,2012 with No Comments

Just in time to celebrate their 20th anniversary next year, a clearly revived Backstreet Boys say a new album is more than halfway done.

The quintet, which is again at full strength with the return of Kevin Richardson, recorded about 15 songs in London earlier this year with producer Martin Terefe (Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister” and Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”) and are now working in L.A with a slate of producers.

Nick Carter told Billboard at the AMAs that the boys are working with Morgan Taylor Reid as well as The Fliptones, among other “young cats” as he calls them. “Up and coming guys who I really think have a sound that hasn’t been heard yet.” Read the rest of this entry »

A Backstreet Boy visits ‘90210’ — EXCLUSIVE

Posted by Staff in Mar 06,2012 with No Comments

Another musical guest will stop by 90210 this season.

In the May 8 episode, Naomi hosts a bachelorette party that features an unexpected visit from Nick Carter, who will play himself. The Backstreet Boys member is invited to the party because the bride had a crush on him since junior high school.

Sadly, there will be no acoustical performance of “Help Me.” Sorry, Nick fans.

Carter’s previous TV appearances include 8 Simple Rules and American Dreams.

90210 has hosted lots of musical guests over the last year, including Train, All-American Rejects, Cobra Starship, Kellie Pickler, Theophilus London, Nelly and Snoop Dogg. [Source]

NKOTBSB, ‘Don’t Turn Out the Lights’ — New Song

Posted by Staff in Apr 05,2011 with No Comments

NKOTBSB have unveiled ‘Don’t Turn Out the Lights,’ the first single for the boy band supergroup comprised of the nine members of New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys.

The polished, up-tempo pop song finds members from both groups splitting vocal duties on the verses. Joey McIntyre, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Jordan Knight and Nick Carter take turns singing about a troubled relationship they’re not ready to give up on.

The full group harmonizes on the catchy chorus: “Don’t turn out the lights now, lights now, lights now / Cause in a minute, we’ll be feeling like never before / We’ll light up the night now, night now, night now / I’ll be whatever you need and more.” Read the rest of this entry »

Backstreet Boys and NKOTB team up on new single

Posted by Staff in Apr 05,2011 with No Comments

First the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block tour together, now they’ve recorded a single together.

Can we get anymore schmaltzy harmonising on one track? Presumably, yes, as the iconic boy bands of the ’90s have joined forces for a new track called ‘Don’t Turn Off The Lights’.

They unite under the moniker of NKOTBSB, mercifully not spelled out as to avoid the obviously homoerotic connotations.

Technically it’s not a complete collaboration ‘ one Backstreet Boy doesn’t appear on the track ‘ but it’ll be good enough for the squealing MILFs.

They delivered a sample of it during a cruise show late last year and proper copies have been circulating on the net but Sony have been pulling them down pretty quickly.

The song is the first from a collaborative album which will be released on May 24, which will also feature five classic tracks from each band.

So there’s a distinct possibility it will be an eleven-track ‘new’ album. [Source]

Posted by Staff in Mar 16,2011 with No Comments

Jordan Knight recently teased that New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys were recording a batch of new tracks together before they kick off their big NKOTBSB tour this summer. The latest news is that their efforts will see the light of day on May 24 when the official NKOTBSB album drops. The guys announced their forthcoming album on Monday (March 14) and the fans will have quite a bit of input on it.

In addition to the new songs, the bands will each include five of their own classic songs on the album. Being that I am the biggest fan of both groups, I decided to put my picks out there in the hopes that someone in either band takes my opinion into account when planning the track list.
