Nick Carter Wants It That Way
Oct 21 2009
Posted by Staff // Categories: Nick Carter

Nick Carter embraced his gay fans before it was trendy — at 17, he posed for the cover of a gay teen mag, unheard of at the time. Now, with a new Backstreet album in stores, Nick is sober, happy, and, most important, back.

Nick Carter’s excitement over the new Backstreet Boys album, This Is Us, is palpable: It’s a return to form, with track after track of the kind of pop music that put the 1990s boy band on the map. Carter points to Moroccan-Swedish RedOne — who can take at least a little credit for Lady Gaga’s ’80s-inspired dance beats — as the kind of Scandinavian who has pop music in his DNA. RedOne is among the red-hot producers (including T.I.) who have updated the Backstreet sound just a notch on the new album.

And yet it’s clear that This Is Us represents a crossroads for Carter, who recognizes the album as a return to a successful formula — and who has cleaned up his act in order to seriously pursue other creative and professional outlets, including writing, directing, acting in, and producing films that explore his self-professed “dark side.”  Read full article.

The Complex 7: Nick Carter
Oct 5 2009
Posted by Staff // Categories: Nick Carter

Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys might’ve been the reason why that girl you liked back in the day wouldn’t give it up, but it’s time to let bygones be bygones. Yeah, the boy-band era was annoying, but we started respecting the homie Nick after we saw him holding his family down on his E! reality show. (His little brother? Not so much.)

Now, Backstreet is back with a new album (This Is Us) dropping on October 6. In between rehearsal time with his group, Nick took some time to answer The Complex 7 and reveal his favorite Jordans, his most embarrassing fashion moment, and what to expect from the new album. Check out what he had to say and BB’s new video below…

Interview by Soo-Young Kim

#1: WHAT HAS TO BE IN YOUR FRIDGE AT ALL TIMES?

Nick Carter says: I like hummus. I like ice cream. I gotta have ice cream in my fridge.

#2: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SNEAKER OF ALL TIME?

Nick Carter says: My favorite sneaker of all time is probably the patent-leather Michael Jordan. What series was that?

Complex: The XIs?

Nick Carter says: Yeah. They’re the ones with the…you know, they came all the way around.   Read full article.

Carter: ‘We won’t be raunchy like GaGa’
Jul 26 2009
Posted by Staff // Categories: News, Nick Carter

Backstreet Boys have insisted that they aren’t following in the footsteps of Lady GaGa on their new album, despite teaming up with her producer RedOne.

The group recruited the hitmaker after struggling to find direction when they started work on their seventh studio disc This Is Us.

RedOne, real name Nadir Khaya, worked on a number of songs for GaGa’s debut album The Fame, including the chart-topping singles ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’.

Band member Nick Carter told the Daily Star: “We racked our brains to rediscover who we were. We had to do something really different but still familiar. RedOne really wanted to be on our Black & Blue album – he said he’d studied us, and he’s written songs tailor-made for the Backstreet Boys.”

Playing down comparisons to GaGa, he added: “Lyrically, it’s an album about love, not sex.”

This Is Us will be released on October 5. [Source]

Nick Carter Website Re-launch Of NickCarter.net
Jul 3 2009
Posted by Staff // Categories: Nick Carter

The Nick Carter website relaunch of NickCarter.net took place on June 17, 2009.

As the youngest member of the Backstreet Boys, Nick was the first member to branch out on his own solo-wise. However, now that the band has just completed a tour and almost another album, the boys continue to work together as a group and also dip into other projects.

Carter’s website includes various features a membership opportunity that includes: access to exclusive content including videos, audio and photos, contests, messageboards, blogs, social network, and exclusive access to pre-sale tickets.

According to Carter’s official website, Nick is developing his talents as an actor, writer and a filmmaker, with two original short films in the works. It seems Carter has his life back on track once again after a once secret battle with alcohol and drugs.
