Interview: Nick & Knight Talk Lifetime of Regrettable Fashion Choices

Posted by Staff in Dec 04,2014 with No Comments

After decades in boy bands, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block have joined forces for their new duo, Nick & Knight.

When we had Carter and Knight in the studio talking about their latest project, we asked them to take a walk down memory lane and explain to us some of their fashion looks over the years. From shirtless overalls to tons of khaki, here’s what the guys had to say when discussing their fashion evolution.

“I never, ever have thought that I actually was very good at style and dressing myself,” Carter admits when he’s given some photos of his earliest looks. “Now more than ever I let my wife help me out a lot. Some things like this, I have no idea what that is. I look like the guy from Puddle of Mudd.”

He’s talking about an outfit he wore to the Festivalbar Music Festival in Turin, Italy back in 2005. During his performance, the Backstreet Boy showed his dark side with a skull woven onto his button-down dress shirt.

Carter also questions an outfit he wore to the 2004 MTV Movie Awards. During his walk on the red carpet, the Backstreet Boy showed off some skin in his ripped bell bottom jeans. He also sported a khaki button-down shirt. “I don’t know why I’m wearing bell bottoms, to be quite honest.” [Source]

Backstreet Boys Documentary Coming in January

Posted by Staff in Dec 04,2014 with No Comments

Backstreet’s back, alright!

The Backstreet Boys documentary, Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, will hit U.S. theaters and VOD on Jan. 30 before London’s More2Screen rolls it out worldwide on Feb. 26, according to Deadline. The film will make its broadcast debut in spring 2015 on VH1.

The documentary will follow the group as they put together last year’s In a World Like This album and throughout the subsequent world tour supporting it.

“We’ve been filming during the making of the record, the rehearsals for the tour, while we’ve been out on the road,” the group’s Kevin Richardson previously told Billboard. “It’s kind of a making-of the record along with our story, how we got together and the ups and downs and the roller coaster that we’ve been on.”

Here’s hoping it also includes behind-the-scenes footage from This Is the End. [Source]

Q&A: Nick Carter on Touring with Jordan Knight & Being on Reality TV

Posted by Staff in Oct 30,2014 with No Comments

As the Nick and Knight tour gets ready to hit Fort Lauderdale on October 22, we talked with singer Nick Carter about what inspired his collaboration with Jordan Knight, his love of house music, and the future of the Backstreet Boys.

Tell us about your new reality show, I Heart Nick Carter, on VH1.
NICK CARTER: Well, it came about because [my wife], Lauren, and myself were talking and saying, “You know, maybe it would be cool to do a reality show.” I feel like we have a really interesting life—it’s unique. I’m always on the road and it’s really difficult to be in a relationship. I had a bad experience last time I did reality [TV and] I might have lost a lot of fans. The person I am now, I am happy. I’ve overcome a lot of adversity. This time around, there’s a definite change and I’ve grown and I feel like it’s a great opportunity for me to reintroduce myself to people.

How did you start working with Jordan Knight on your new collaborative album, Nick and Knight?
NC: It happened organically. The relationship with him and I, we had it before we did the collaboration with New Kids and Backstreet Boys. He and I had been writing partners and when we met back up with the tour, we just started talking and [thought] it would be cool to do this and it [would] be crazy to go on tour and it just evolved. Then, it was like, instead of us doing our old songs, why don’t we do a whole record and do something nobody would expect? It was fun. He’s a great writing partner. We really are enjoying it and we write great music together. It’s just a cool collaboration.

What can fans expect from your current Nick and Knight tour?
NC: It’s just a big party. We do a bunch of songs from our solo records that we’ve put out. Then, we also do [songs] from our respective groups—we do a couple of songs from Backstreet Boys and from New Kids on the Block. Then we pay homage to the nineties. We do “Pony” by Ginuwine [and] “Bad Boys” from Mase and Puffy and I’m rapping the verse. It’s really like an out-of-the-box show. Read the rest of this entry »
